A Quick SEO Tool

Search Engine Optimization does take a lot of time (well, if not being done right from the beginning), and the way you optimize your blog/website also changes with time. But certain SEO techniques are quite constant (at least till now). So if you want to get some traffic from the search engine giants like Google, Yahoo and MSN Live, then you must consider and optimize certain features in your blog, these include (but of course not limited to): Optimizing the meta-data, optimizing the images used in your blog, domain registration, getting indexed in Google through sitemaps, adding your posts/articles to social networking sites, etc.
If you want to check your blog's present status with respect to these parameters, then you can do this quickly by visiting this website: WebSite Grader.

Simply type your blog's url and hit the "Generate Report" button. Within minutes you will get a percentile for your blog (90 percentile means out of 100 blogs you are better than 89 blogs and 10 blog are better than you).
But for you this percentile is NOT important, you should better check for the PINK boxes displayed in your result page.

Because these PINK boxes show the problems present within your blog. You must correct them and then again submit your blog, and see if your blog improves the percentile score.

PS: As there are many SEO optimizing tools and web sites available on Internet, no one can guarantee you COMPLETE success, so you must try more than one tool and try to optimize those problems which are being shown by most of those tools.

Hi Sai,

I just used the Website Grader and it stated that I have people linked to both http://www.owlbox.blogspot.com and owlbox.blogspot.com. In order to get credit for both it recommended that I do a permanent 301 redirect to my full blog address. Is there anyway to do this using Blogger considering that I don't have domain level access?

Yes that is certainly possible even in BlogSpot blogs.
That 301 redirection is required to build a better PR.

You need to do these two tasks:

Add your blog's sitemap to Google:
blogger-help-how-to-add-sitemap-to.html

And then tell google that both WWW and NON-WWW versions of your blog belongs to you:
choose-only-any-one-www-or-non-www.html

Coz WWW is just a subdomain, so if A links to you with WWW and B links to you without WWW, then Google will assign two diff PRs to your WWW and NON-WWW blog (although they are same).
So those two tasks important to tell google that both www and non-www versions of the blog are same !

Ok Sai,

I selected www. as my preferred domain, so does this mean that Google will now automatically redirect the non-www links to my www and give me credit for them?

Your job is done, now Google is although not going to redirect anything, but it will now consider both www and non-www links to your blog as one, and so no. of backlinks will inc.
But this may take some time to show the results...

You have redirected your subdomain (www.aiesalas.com) to your original blogger-blog (where www is the sub-domain) but you have left your original domain (aiesalas.com) as it is.
Now you can simply upload a welcome html-file to this address(aiesalas.com), or for better SEO, you can redirect your domain (aiesalas.com) to your sub-domain (www.aiesalas.com)

Hi Divya, I got a problem about domain age of mp3-pod.blogspot.com. Report from grader.com said that domain age : 9 years, 5 month, 11 days and time expiration : 6 months, 20 days but in actual mp3-pod.blogspot.com created on 2008. This report same as alexa report.
For complete of grader's report, please go to http://websitegrader.com/site/mp3-pod.blogspot.com
Please help me to fix it.

Thank you,
dawan

Don't worry Dawan, that tool is only talking about blogspot.com (or better say Blogger.com)
Blogger.com was registered around 9 years back, and it is Googles responsibility to renew that domain in this year (as Blogger belongs to Google)

All the blogs registered on Blogger (ANYTHING.blogspot.com) are sub-domains on Blogger.com
so an individual blogger can NEVER renew his/her sub-domain.

That warning will not matter at all, because Google is the search engine that checks the age of a website, and in this case that website(Blogger) belongs to Google itself

Hi,

I checked that Website Grader. What can I do about this:

"We found some HTML (font) font tags on this page. ... you should use cascading style sheets (CSS) to separate your website's content from it's appearance"

Thank you!

That's not a critical issue, you may ignore it.
