Well "Share your views" is nothing but an image.

I checked your blog, and I found comments posting in a "pop up". So to embed a "comment form", read this post:

And to add those smilies, read this:

Hello ankit

in the template, you'll find something like this:

.date-header {
***
***
***
}

and one of the *** will be
margin 1.5em 0 2.0em; (or similar to this)

now increase the first value, that is 1.5 to 1.75 or 2

Hello Ankit,

You'll find something similar to this in the template;

.post h3 a, .post h3 a:visited, .post h3 strong {
background: #ffffff url("http://www.gigaimage.com/images/144t0jyusibmi30pojj.jpg") no-repeat;
line-height: 2.5em;
margin:0 50 .75em;
display:block;
text-decoration:none;
color:#FF0000;
font-weight:normal;
}

The bolded line may/may not be there, so add it, and in place of the image-link in italics, add any image you want to !

Reply

February 25, 2009 2:46 PM delete

Yup certainly ankit,
if you want to shift from blogger to blogger, then easiest way is to change the domain name itself.

Or you can use this export/import method:
http://bloggerstop.net/2008/11/back-up-your-blog-posts-and-comments.html

And to go from blogger to wordpress etc. use this method:

February 26, 2009 12:28 PM delete

Hi Allure

There's too much of javascripting in your blog, even before your <html> and <head>, you have kept some scripting, this all will definitely affect the loading time etc., and moreover IE being more lame than firefox, it completely fails to load your blog.

Remove all javascript files/code from your blog, which you think are un-neccessary.
That's it !

Well pooh,
there are various ways to put these ads, You can simply add a table to your blog, and place the ads in it:

<table border="1"><tr><td width="275" height="275">
YOUR ADS CODES HERE (You can put a max of 4 ads with 275x275 dimensions)
</td></table>

Change the dimensions if you want to add less/more than 4 ad units.

Hi,
Stumbled upon your website through a google search and now i think this was the best thing ever happened to me since i started blogging.
As mentioned above regarding placement of adslots in blogger, you have mentioned the code above but there is no mention of where to place it ?
Help me with that.
Also i have joined performancing ads and dont know how place them in my blog ! They provide java scripts .

Reply

May 19, 2009 6:47 AM delete

Hi Perry,

Can you be specific about which code are you talking about, and in general for any ad-code, do this:

Go to Layout -> click on "Add a Gadget" and select "HTML/JavaScript" type, and then paste the ad code in to the widget.

Then save the widget. And finally drag the widget wherever you want in the template.

Reply
avatar
May 19, 2009 12:33 PM delete

Why do you want to do it Ankit....their data is dynamically shown through javascript, if you are ready to upload new images regularly, then simply save their image(no. of followers badge) occasionally and show it on your blog with a simple html-img tag.

Thanks for such a prompt reply.
Never expected it !
The thing is i use blogger.com to host my website and recently have joined performancing ads. The problem is i want to place 4 125by125 ads in my sidebar i.e in form of 2x2 box ( want to know how to make such widgets ). For doing this i searched for some tutorial and came to know about this site. I tried to customize my template but to no avail.
A help to put the ads correctly would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Reply
avatar
May 19, 2009 3:49 PM delete

Okay...it actually depends on your website (sidebar's width), presently I am considering that it's width is more than 250px.
And there many ways to do this, but I always keep things simple, so here's a simple table with 2 columns and 2 rows, place ads in them:

So use this code:

<table border="1"><tr>
<th align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 1</th>
<th align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 2</th>
</tr><tr>
<td align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 3</td>
<td align="center" width="130" height="130">Your Ad Banner 3</td>
</tr></table>

@ Marty and 'My Space'

Welcome buddies...

@ Marty,
In any template, including the one you are presently using, you can remove the dates, read the tutorial here:
http://bloggerstop.net/2009/04/hide-date-in-bloggerblogspot-blogs.html

@My Space,
When I visited your blog, I saw that you are using "Notepad" template, in which instead of date (near the post title), "undefined" is being shown, simply go to "Settings" -> "Formatting" -> and change the "Date Header Format" to "July XX, 2009" or something else...

In GWT, it would be showing that your labels cannot be indexed by Google, that is because in Blogger labels are purposely blocked from being indexed so that an important SEO error of content duplication is avoided. Don't worry it's normal, and actually good for you.

@MOSTWANTED
Yes, through that hack the older posts links will be displayed as titles only. If most of your titles are self-explanatory, then it's fine as readers know where they have to go.
This is mainly done, so that those pages will load quickly and readers do not have to wait long, and moreover this also avoids the SEO error content duplication.

If you want to some summary of the posts too, then you can remove this code, provided you have the "Read More" hack in most of your posts. Or you can put the "automatic Read More" hack too.

@ Umasri
Presently on your blog, what you have are only words (Home, Contact etc.) which are linked to your blog. Write 3 new posts with titles "About Me", "Portfolio" and "Contact Me/Us" without the double-quotes. And publish these posts just as you have published the previous posts. Now when then posts are displayed ni your blog, copy their addresses (url) and link those words below your header (Home, Portfolio etc.) with these pages. When you will write more posts, these 3 posts will be hidden but always will be linked from the top-linklist of your blog.

In your Blogger's dashboard, go to the settings page of the blog, then go to Publishing tab, and then click on Custom Domain, and then enter the domain url in the space provided.
And at your domain registrar's account page, you have to make the DNS changes as descibed in the tutorial.

According to the width of your blog-pot area, fix the width of images too.
So whiling using an image, fix it's width to 400px, like this:
<img src="" width="400"/>

Along with width, in your blog, the height of the images is also fixed, for ex: in the first image, width is 400px and height is 719px, so delete that code for height and only fix width.
If you still want to make the blog wider, then make these changes:

change this:
<pre>#header-wrapper {
width:660px;
margin:0 auto 10px;
border:1px solid #cccccc;
}
</pre>

to this:
<pre>#header-wrapper {
width:960px;
margin:0 auto 10px;
border:1px solid #cccccc;
}

And change this code:
#outer-wrapper {
width: 660px;
margin:0 auto;
padding:10px;
text-align:left;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Times, serif;
}
#main-wrapper {
width: 410px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}
#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 220px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

To this:

#outer-wrapper {
width: 960px;
margin:0 auto;
padding:10px;
text-align:left;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Times, serif;
}
#main-wrapper {
width: 710px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}
#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 220px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}
</pre>

Hello!

I'm having issues with a template I downloaded. For the most part I've got it up & running however I can't for the life of me get the "older posts" "newer posts" to show!

I've already changed the following:
#blog-pager-newer-link {
display:none;
}

#blog-pager-older-link {
display:none;
}

#blog-pager {
display:none;
}

To read:
#blog-pager-newer-link {
float:left;
}

#blog-pager-older-link {
float:right;
}

#blog-pager {
text-align:center;
}

But, the links still won't show!

If you could take a look & let me know what I'm missing it would be so greatly appreciated.

The template presently being used by you is highly customised and the parameters used are also different from the default ones(used by Blogger), so that will be quite difficult for me to edit it.
Although it may be quite boring for you, but you may search new template from these sites:

Hi Zizo,

From the example site you have shown, it means you just don't need an extra sidebar, but now the sidebars should be of varying widths and on the same side too.
So whichever tutorial you follow, make you backup your template first (download the template)

First of all the easiest way I suggest you to switch to a new template with 3 columns.you may search new templates here:
btemplates.com
deluxetemplates.net
bloggerstyles.com

If you do not to switch to a new template, then I will recommend you to read and follow this tutorial:
http://beautifulbeta.blogspot.com/2006/10/adding-second-sidebar-to-your-blog-part.html

But again, make sure you have downloaded a copy of your present template and also have taken a backup of your widgets.

If you plan to change your template, then read this tutorial too:

1. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1704149/js-depo/jquery.fancybox-1.2.1/js/jquery.fancybox.css
2. http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js

4. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1704149/js-depo/jquery.fancybox-1.2.1/js/jquery.fancybox-1.2.1.pack.js

hi,
I run a sports blog. when i post a post about (say) English Premier league i should get an small english flag image to the title of the post(probaby i n the beginning of title) . I would have included the EPL as a label for that post. Similarly if i post a post about spanish league (with label as spanish league) then that appropriate flag must be displayed. Is this possible? If so please explain the steps fully.

Thanks for the quick reply. It was rather confusing, yes.
Question 1:
I have my own website and I want to make some links to posts in my blog. Is it possible to target a particular post, rather than the whole blog?
Question 2:
I add a new post (as well as new blogs with different subject matter) each day or two, and would like to change the hierarchy so that it is not just "most recent" or "oldest" that determines which order the post appear. It is possible to group together posts under a heading, or subset, etc?

Thanks you for your patience.

1. Yes simply copy the url of any post and link it from any widget present on your website.
You can see the examples in this blog (BloggerStop) too: my about and contact pages are simple posts written 2 years ago. I have linked them from my top page-nav menu.

PS: As blogger has recently launched its static-pages feature, so better use this feature.

2. Well you can group posts using the recent posts widget, but instead of your blog feed url, use blog feed url + any of your blog label/category/tag. (So all your posts in the category say, "carport" will be shown in a particular widget)

Tutorial for recent posts widget.

Default feed url to be used in the widget is this:
http://www.YourBlog.BlogSpot.com/feeds/posts/default/

but label specific feed-url will be this one:
http://www.YourBlog.BlogSpot.com/feeds/posts/default/-/LabelName

So, instead of LabelName, you can use "carport" in a widget and some other label in another widget.

Now make some widgets specific for your famous categories/labels and show these widgets only in the homepage, by using this hack:
How to show widgets only in homepage, or all posts or only in a specific page

your edit posts link looks like this:

Instead of the phrases, Your Ad Banner 1, Your Ad Banner 2 etc.

Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The element type "img" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "".

This is error I get when I put in your code for the four boxes with url. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks for help!
