The BEST Title For Your About Us/Me Page

Wouldn't it be awesome if someone searches for your name on the Internet, and your profile or image appears right at the top of Google search results !
The odds of your name being unique in this world with over 7 Billion people are almost nil. So your name might already be present in many websites, including some of the top ranking sites and blogs. And the problem is that this name doesn't represent you. So whenever someone searches for you in Google, Yahoo or any other search engine, they may land up at some other page (a profile belonging to some other person of course).

So if you want your blog (specially the about-us page from your blog) to come on the top of all other results, here's a simple tweak to do...

First of all create an about-me or about-us page for your blog, in the same way you created a contact-us/me page (of course now there's no need to add any contact form this time. Simply write whatever you want to share with the world, about you !)

Now once you have created the page, the url will look something like this:
http://YOUR_BLOG.BlogSpot.com/p/about-us.html
or
http://YOUR_BLOG.BlogSpot.com/p/about-me.html

Note: Don't publish the page, until you read this article completely.

The title of the page will be either About Us or About Me. And once, twice or a maximum of three times you would have mentioned your name in that page.
So the page is perfect, with correct content and exactly what a general reader wants to see.

But this method doesn't tell the search engines that out of hundreds of words from the page, it should give more importance to your name, even if you repeat the same words (your name) for two/three times, or even more.

The Perfect Way To Create An About Me Page:

Your job is to tell the search engines that they must specifically focus on your name in the page.
So both, the title and the URL of your About Me page must contain your name. And of course the article body too should have at least a couple of occurrences.

Now again take a look, how exactly the page should be structured:

url / page address:
http://YOUR_BLOG.BlogSpot.com/p/about-AUTHOR-NAME.html

title:
Author-Your Name

and of course the content with your name.

To make this more effective, you can add description meta tag specific to the page.

Here are the results for my name, from Google and Yahoo:

To get your image in the Image search results, place an image in the same page, with your name as the file name of the image (Your_Name.jpg), and also your name in the alt tag.

There's no rocket science in this trick, we are exploiting a simple SEO strategy through which search engines recognize and give more importance to the keywords in the titles.

Thanks for appreciating the post dude,

I want to add one more point to this post;
while writing the title, you may also use phrases like, "Who is John" or "Who is Alex" etc.
As people tend to search names like that, and more the matches between queries and titles more are the chances of getting top position in Google !

Great Post!
Have you heard about LookupPage?
It's a service that helps you represent yourself professionally online when you are being 'googled'.
You can create a webpage using LookupPage that has all of your discussed characteristics.
For example, you can Google my name or search my name in Yahoo to see that my LookupPage is the first result :-)

Well actually Udi,

I do wanted to add this sort of information in the post, it's not just lookuppage that can do this for you, actually there's even better ways to do this (I mean economical), lookuppage actually charges for their premium services, so instead of that one can easily open an account in twitter.com or linkedin.com,
which are much popular than lookuppage, and are free too.
But the reason I didn't add this method is, when people can easily start a blog for free and enjoy blogging too, then why select any other service ?

Anyways thanks for suggesting a new website Udi...

Regards
Sai

Hi Gary,

There's no widget in this method, you only have to change the title of your about-us or about-me page.
You may see my own example:

Hi Divya,

I am sorry but I am unable to follow exactly as your example.

When you say "change the title of my about-me page" you mean go to the Blogger Posting and put a new Title with my name on it. Am I right?

Thanks and best regards,
tony
